METER RETROFIT PROJECT

Since 1992, State Law has required the installation of a water meter as part of any new construction. AB 2572, passed in 2004, requires all unmetered buildings to be retrofitted with water meters by 2025. In compliance with the law, EGWD is installing meters on all unmetered customer connections.

Please refer to the maps below to see when your home or business is scheduled for installation. (Click on one of the the maps for a much larger version. It can be zoomed to full size.) Installation crews will notify you by door hanger a few days before the work begins. Weather and other factors may change the schedule, so check this site periodically for updates.

If you receive a new meter, your account will be converted from a flat rate to a metered billing. Many customers are seeing a drop in their monthly bill after the meter is installed. If you have questions about the meter installation, please call our office at 916-685-3556.
